If I am a casual, can I still join a union?

Yes, every worker in Australia is able to join a union. In actual fact casuals have more reason to join a union because their positions are less secure than permanent staff under unfair dismissal laws. It is illegal for your employer to stop you joining a union. The best way to find out what union covers your job contact the Australian Council of Trade Unions on 1300 362 223
