Peace breaks out in gvt hospitalsDate: 11 August 2004
Western Australia's largest health union expects members to vote to support a ground-breaking agreement for 5000 support workers in WA government hospitals. "Job security and a good wage increase are central to this agreement," said Carolyn Smith, Assistant Secretary of the LHMU. "It will bring certainty for both our members and the government to ensure the smooth running of our hospitals in a climate of ongoing reform. "Previously our members have had to take industrial action when negotiating their agreement, but we are happy that the government saw the benefits of a positive approach to the process." Over 500 members are expected at the meeting today which will be held at 1.30 pm, Perry Lakes Stadium, Meagher Drive, Floreat. Country members have already supported the agreement in linkups around the State.
