Industrial Action over Fire SaleDate: 06 December 2004
Staff at the government enterprises of Q Stores and CM Solutions are set to take further industrial action after a massive back-flip by NSW Department of Commerce. Q Stores and CM Solutions are the government printer, supply and mail services for the State Government. The NSW Department of Commerce that Minister Della Bosca has relied on to provide a more efficient and conciliatory industrial relations system is proposing to privatise Q Stores and CM Solutions. The Department has now reduced the payment being offered to staff for going to the private sector employer, with reduced job security, less redundancy provisions and less leave to just 1% extra salary for five months. Shay Deguara, PSA Industrial Officer said, "The Department and the Minister have undertaken this mad pursuit of ideological privatisation of productive government services." "They have been unwilling to secure all but a few employees' entitlements with the new owner and have done this through the government purse." "Now we understand that the Department in its secret dealings has forgotten to include promised pay rises to staff who move to the new owner." The PSA union members plan to start action on Tuesday should they not receive a satisfactory offer from the Department. For more information contact Shay Deguara, PSA Industrial on 0409 743 251 or Troy Wright, Organiser on 9220 0930.
