Ion Workers Rally at Creditors MeetsDate: 12 December 2004
Hundreds of Australian Workers' Union members from car parts maker Ion will rally in Adelaide tomorrow (Monday December 13) before attending the first Creditors Meeting since the company went into Voluntary Administration. The future of 3,000 Ion workers was put in doubt last week when the company went into administration after banks cut its finance. Ion Automotive Group employs 600 workers in South Australia (at the former Castalloy plant in North Plympton and in Wingfield and Kilkenny) and another 700 auto parts workers at Albury in NSW. Administrators McGrath Nicol and Partners are holding five simultaneous creditors meetings on Monday December 13 of the Ion Group companies in Adelaide, Melbourne (2 meetings), Sydney and Albury.
