PUBLIC SECTOR PAY BALLOT A HUGE YESDate: 17 December 2004
The result of the ballot on the public sector pay offer is:
YES 17,278 (94.8%) Total turnout was 18,217 votes from an eligible 40,990 members. The last time we had a ballot on a public sector pay offer was in 2000 and the result was 10,123 YES (75%), 3,411 NO (25%) Total 13,534. This ballot has generated a huge "Yes" percentage and turnout. The offer is for pay rises of 4% per year for four years, plus improvements to maternity leave (14 weeks), introduction of paid parental leave (one week) and more flexibility with extended leave. The next step is to officially inform the government and get them to move as quickly as possible with implementation of the agreement.
