Tell your work story with hip hop

Date: 25 March 2006

Tell your own story and the ACTU’s student web-site will put it to music. It's all part of the latest Worksite comp.

Over 20,000 students visit the ACTU Worksite for Schools website each month.

Students asking more questions on workers' rights

Recent changes to IR laws have prompted students to ask more questions than ever before on workers’ rights and the role of unions and Worksite provides students’ with information on the wide world of work.

Worksite's latest competition Work - what's your story? asks students to share their ideas on work.

ACTU wants to know students' views about work

Whether you work after school or the weekend, have done work experience or have some good ideas about work and workers' rights - the Worksite competition wants to know all about it.

What do you do at work? Who do you meet? Is it fun? What's good and what's bad about work? Tell us your story.

If you don't have a job, tell us your ideas on work, about a dream job, or how you feel about getting your first job.

In the winners' circle

Try rhyming your working words and listen to the rhythm they make when said out aloud - the winner will get the chance to have their entry recorded as a hip-hop Worksite podcast.

You could win:

- Your own work recorded by DJ Smitten and DJ Perplex as a hip-hop ACTU Worksite for Schools podcast - for all to log on and listen to

- One of four $25 runner-up prizes

The judges are looking for:

- Entries with a point of view

- Fun with hip-hop or verse or sounds

- Entries that other students will find interesting

Entries close on Friday 23 June 2006.
