Work fairness no laughing matter

Date: 18 May 2007

Working people and families know John Howard's unfair and extreme IR laws stink to high heaven.

The majority of people know that his AWA individual contracts cut pay and hard-won conditions. Fairness and decency in the workplace ranks as a key issue for most Australians.

This week Mr Howard told the ABC the majority of voters are "joking" about opposing his Government and will end up reelecting him again. Let's wipe the smile off his face.

Small donations will help raise money for a full-page advert

A large advertisement in The Australian, the national broadsheet newspaper costs up to $30,000.

Help spread the message loud and clear - every dollar helps!

It's a big ask to raise the money but the pay off for our campaign would be worth many times more than that. Mr Howard, his cabinet, big business leaders - all these individuals tuck into The Australian every day.

If they won't come to us and hear our concerns and our opinions, we'll just have to go to them!

We won't fall for John Howard's scare campaign

The ad will tell commentators, all political parties and big business that no amount of window dressing can change the fact that AWA individual contracts cut pay and conditions.

It will ram home that clever politics and spin can't hide the harsh truth that over time, all Australians will be affected by the IR laws. We will not fall for John Howard's desperate scare campaign.

Chip in for an advertisement in The Australian

Tell Mr Howard and his big business mates that fairness in the workplace is no laughing matter: chip in for an advertisement in The Australian newspaper now!

Help spread the message loud and clear - every dollar helps!

The LHMU's Your Choice campaign was launched in March, on the first anniversary of the Howard Government's WorkChoice laws that was just the first step. Other campaign action will run right up to the federal election later this year.
