Rough Reds go onlineDate: 02 August 2007
A few rough reds" (RR1) featuring three old MUA comrades Brian Manning, Geoff Swayne and Ron Maxwell, has now gone into cyberspace. The book is now up there as readable pages and as downloadable PDF's at http://roughreds.com The print run for Rough Reds 1 sold out 12 months ago but these stories will now find a new and global readership. Already used in activist training, the stories feature wharfie activist Brian Manning who played an underground role during the early days of the Fretilin resistance to the Indonesian occupation of East Timor, the work of Sydney union leader Ron Maxwell on the local council and the leadership of Geoff Swayne now immortalised by the union school at St Georges Basin. These stories and more are now much more accessible as case studies for use in education and activism. Read the review in MWJ when the book first came out : http://www.mua.org.au/journal/julaug_2004/reds.html download Rough Reds from the web The project is thanks to Chris Elenor of the SEARCH Foundation, the Labour History Associtin and the long hours by the amazing Mark Gregory.
