Cochlear Workers twice reject non-union agreement

Despite the workers twice rejecting a non-union agreement by an overwhelming margin, Cochlear management is now demanding they sign individual contracts.

Australian Manufacturing Workers Union state president Tim Ayres said the workers could not understand why they do not have a right to be represented by their union if the majority want a collective agreement.

" This is a simple question for the Prime Minister where is the choice if an employer can simply ignore the wishes of the majority of the workforce to be represented by a union in wage talks," Mr Ayres said.

" This is where the Prime Ministerıs spin about choice is mugged by reality under his IR laws the choice is one-way."
