Hawke talks Labor successDate: 14 October 2007
Is there a winning formula for Kevin Rudd to follow as a Labor PM? Bob Hawke will talk this week about his years as PM at the next NSW Fabians Labor Leader series. At 6pm on 17 October at Gleebooks Geoff Gallop, the former WA Premier, will interview Hawke as part of the continuing NSW Fabians Labor Leader series. The NSW Fabians series allows one Labor Leader to interview another Labor Leader about their time in office.
Labor's longest serving PMBob Hawke ( 1983-1991) is Labor's longest serving Prime Minister and will have a unique perspective on the 2007 federal election campaign.During the Hawke Government, Australia entered a new era of economic deregulation, undertaken with a view to sustaining the nation's unity and sense of itself in the world of nations. Both Hawke and Geoff Gallop (WA Labor Premier 2001 -2006) are Rhode Scholars who led their parties out of Opposition and achieved overwhelming electoral victories. The moderator is Rodney Cavalier, a Minister in the Wran and Unsworth Governments.
