ABC Learning time to end uncertaintyDate: 06 November 2008
The LHMU - The childcare union - today called on Federal and State Governments and ABC Learning to clarify uncertainty surrounding the operation of ABC childcare centres. As reports increase of the imminent appointment of an administrator to ABC Learning, Louise Tarrant, National Secretary of the LHMU says: "The uncertainty for families and workers at ABC Learning Centres can't go on. "The time has come for Governments to step in and for ABC Learning to urgently clarify its position. Families and workers need certainty. If administration does occur then it is imperative that the administrator and Governments work together to ensure continuity of service for families and workers. "These centres provide an essential service for families - a service that is essential for families' financially and for the wellbeing of their children. "Childcare professionals working at ABC Learning are committed to providing quality childcare. However, they have financial responsibilities themselves. The protracted and growing uncertainty about the Company's future has also been stressful for them. "The first step in resolving the uncertainties about ABC childcare centres is for the Company to issue a statement about its status."
