TWU members return to work

Date: 30 March 2009

Qantas baggage handlers, ramp, fleet and catering staff are returning to work at Sydney's international and domestic terminals this afternoon after stopping work this morning over safety issues.

The TWU had held a delegates meeting, where it was voted to stop work over continued security concerns, as well as concerns over job security.

More that 450 staff on the morning shift at Sydney's domestic and international terminals were joined by TWU members from the Queensland, Western Australian and South Australian/Northern Territory branches of the TWU in stopping work over safety concerns.

TWU members did not take the decision to stop work this morning lightly, and will remain vigilant in ensuring all travellers, as well as the general public, can fly as safely as possible.
