Time for a Sea Change in AustraliaDate: 03 June 2009
Tomorrow at the Natship09 conference the National Secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia, Paddy Crumlin, will launch a new platform for the revitalisation of shipping. . Mr Crumlin will call for the Federal Government to adopt a comprehensive package of regulatory reforms and fiscal support for shipping without delay. The Minister for Transport Anthony Albanese has recognised the need for revitalising shipping by commissioning an inquiry into shipping. Mr Crumlin was part of a Shipping Policy Advisory Group appointed by the Minister to turn the inquiry's recommendations into a new national shipping policy.
