FBU warns of arbitary boundaries

Date: 25 February 2010

Bureaucratic boundaries between areas served by NSW Fire Brigade officers and volunteer bushfire crews are causing confusion and putting lives at risk.

In one area, the boundary runs down suburban streets, meaning neighbours get different quality fire protection simply because of what side of the street their house is on.

The NSW Fire Brigade Employees Union (FBEU) want immediate action to fix these problems to ensure the best possible fire protection for the community .
